Alan was born and raised in McKinney, Texas (about 30 miles north of Dallas).  His father was a real estate appraiser and his mother was a homemaker.  After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  Four years later, he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  After passing the CPA exam in 1983 and gaining the required experience in 1985, he became a CPA and practiced in the state of Texas until 2006 when he moved to Colorado Springs.

Alan has a broad range of experience.  For several years, he audited the financial statements of school districts, cities, colleges, churches and other nonprofit organizations.  He was the controller for three years at a Texas-based home health agency and the Director of Finance & Human Resources for seven years at a Colorado-based software company.  Throughout his career, he’s prepared tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts and nonprofit organizations.
